Answering Your Architectural Precast Concrete Questions - Nampa, ID

Do you have questions about precast concrete and what you will get from Heath Specialty Precast? Learn everything you need to know below about precast concrete and custom casting projects in Nampa and the surrounding Treasure Valley, Idaho.

What is Precast Concrete?

  • Precast concrete refers to concrete elements that are cast and cured in a controlled facility, then transported to the construction site for installation. Alternatively, concrete is poured on-site.

  • “Normal” concrete is often poured on-site (cast-in-place), while precast is made off-site and comes ready to install. Precast allows for better quality control and faster installation.

  • It is typically made from cement, aggregates (like sand and gravel), water, and optional additives or reinforcements like steel rebar or fibers, mixed and poured into reusable molds.

  • Precast products are made off-site in a controlled facility— like ours in Nampa, ID— which allows for precision casting, consistent curing, and high-quality control.

  • Precast offers speed, strength, durability, and consistency. It reduces on-site labor, speeds up construction timelines, and improves overall build quality.

  • Precast concrete steps are pre-manufactured stair units (treads) designed for quick installation in residential or commercial projects. See our stair treads page for more information.

  • Precast is strong, durable, consistent, and customizable. It reduces construction time, lowers long-term maintenance, and is ideal for both aesthetic and structural applications.

Architectural Precast Concrete - Uses & Benefits

  • Architectural precast concrete is used for decorative purposes like wall panels and caps, trim, and stair treads. Structural precast supports loads, like beams, columns, or floors. Heath Specialty Precast only offers architectural precast concrete products at this time.

  • It is commonly found on building facades, schools, commercial properties, entryways, staircases, stepping stones, planters, and other decorative or functional exterior features. Browse our gallery to see our past projects.

  • Precast can mimic the look of natural stone at a lower cost than stone, with more design flexibility and better durability in freeze-thaw climates.

Getting Started With Your Casting Project

  • You can contact us through our website or call us directly at (208) 866-6233 with your project details, and we would be happy to send you a quote.

  • We typically will need desired dimensions, your finish preferences, quantity, and any relevant architectural drawings.

  • We offer several finishes, including smooth, broom, and acid wash, with multiple color options. You can see each of these here and even request a free 4”x4” tile sample

  • Our team spent months perfecting our concrete recipe to specifically resist Idaho’s freeze/thaw cycles. Its winter-tested durability will outlast other typical mixes in Idaho.

  • We offer both. Standard items like stair treads or modular accessories are available, but we also specialize in custom casting work if your project requires a unique design or fit.

  • Concrete, being a natural product, isn’t indestructible and can crack. We have an in-house patch concrete mix, but it should be noted that patched areas can’t match the original exactly.

  • Lead times vary based on the scope of the project, but most orders are completed within 2-6 weeks.
